SLP Headers but which ones?

Basically I have a 2001 Z28 and im wanting headers. The thing is there are 2 different kinds for SLP and there is atleast a $100 difference between the two. http://www.lmperformance.com/c/7/1.html <--- Look at the LT Headers. Tell me please which ones I need. I think its the one with the no EGR ($100 cheaper ones) Also if I want to make it legal for emmisions, how do I do that? Just need the high flow cats? I figured I could just go and replace the factory Y-pipe and cats, get it tested and put on the header Y-pipe or something. Please help. Thx in advance.

Only difference between the headers is for the AIR/EGR hookups. 01's don't have EGR so if you want emissions get the one's with AIR hookups and get a catted y-pipe. Race headers don't come with any of the AIR/EGR hookups, which is the reason they are cheaper.

Re: SLP Headers but which ones?

Just FYI, I don't think too many people would recommend SLP LTs but...

No you don't need the LTs with the EGR provision but you do have the AIR...but you can remove it (up to you). You'd get an SES light though.

Technically you will not pass emissions with LTs because they move the cats (if you actually use cats with them) from the factory location...but if there's no visual inspection, you shouldn't have a problem.

There is an SLP LT kit listed there that comes with a Y and cats. That's probably your best option, easiest at least...unless you can get a good deal on a cat'd Y-pipe somewhere else.

Re: SLP Headers but which ones?

Thanks fellas. I just seen all my figures and actually the QTP 1 7/8's are cheaper then those with the locking header bolts and gaskets and all. I was basing it kinda on what I could afford with tax money but I forgot that parts for our cars are worth the money you pay for it. I found QTP's, Y-pipe, Gaskets, bolts, and shipped to my door for $1,274. Might aswell just save the money and make it right and buy the Cats later.

You'll pass emissions & visual fine if you keep cats. I pass with flying colors ever year, then I go straight home and swap my cats for race pipes and everything is right in the world.

As long as you keep your catalytic converters you will pass emissions, visual inspections (I'm assuming) must vary from state to state. Here as long as the cats are there, you will pass.

Holy Hell dude! I bought the SLP Catted LT's, and 3" y-pipe, with the whole kit, out the door for $1,200. Then I find out the hard way that people like you, (No disrespect) are getting these killer deals. Yeah, I keep hearing that the SLP's have really bad ground clearance and then I hear that some owners don't have a problem. UUGH! Whatever, I guess next time I'll research this a little better.---Props, though. I need your kind of connections.
