It's normal. If you try to shift during the period that light is on, it makes you go from 1st gear to 4th gear. It's a retarded little gas mileage "feature"

word, thats so annoying, one time i was at a stop and a cobra rolled by and took off so i decided to catch up and i hit it and i shifted at ~5k and it still made me go to 4th...only happened that one time racing, but always during 2k rpms, so i have to shift around 3k

yeah.. it's awful.. anyone ever at an intersection or so, and you go to turn, and you shift normally, but skipshift cuts in, and make you go into fourth... and the road you just turned onto is a pretty big hill? yeah that never sounds too good

I think it's a GREAT FEATURE. Without it, we'd have paid a large gas tax upon purchase of these cars for failing to meet milage standards.

First, if you shifted at 5k then the skip shift is no longer a factor. You simply hit the wrong gear. Also, even with the skip shift elminator on the light will still come on until it is disabled through the PCM.

The CAGS is a pain in the A*S! If I want to save fuel, I'll skip gears on my own! 1-3-5 or 2-4-5. My father was cursing up a storm when I let him drive it last year. I told him just step on it a little more and it won't do that.

Re: skip shift light comming on...

It disengages automatically if you give more than 30% throttle. Should also shut down at 2500rpm always.
