Well like some people are saying, keep hounding the dealership untill they fix the whining noise. The noise that you are hearing when shifting is normal if it is a M6..
Well I drive my dad's 2000 Silverado w/ 4.3L and M5 once in a while and when shifting it sounds like a bad transmission mount, I have checked the mount personally and even the driveline, so it is normal.. It could be just the freeplay in either Tranny or Rear End... That noise is normal but the whining noise sounds like either the Ring and Pinion Backlash is not set correctly or the Pinion Depth is not set up correctly.. Either way have the dealer check the Backlash and pinion depth...
