ok Look I had to take mine bacK to the Dealer Like 3-4 times first they tried changing the Fluied than other things but I pushed and Pushed Had the manager ride with me in the car each time. I was even fixing to Write Pontiac. they got fed up with is and said they were judt gonna replace the whole Rear end. whan i got it back it was fixed than I asked if they found the problem. they said that for some reason the gears had alot of Wear so inturn had some play and that was the noise I was hearing.... oh buy the way they even tried to tell me it was the posi one time. and it was built like that.... Well like some people are saying, keep hounding the dealership untill they fix the whining noise. The noise that you are hearing when shifting is normal if it is a M6..

Well I drive my dad's 2000 Silverado w/ 4.3L and M5 once in a while and when shifting it sounds like a bad transmission mount, I have checked the mount personally and even the driveline, so it is normal.. It could be just the freeplay in either Tranny or Rear End... That noise is normal but the whining noise sounds like either the Ring and Pinion Backlash is not set correctly or the Pinion Depth is not set up correctly.. Either way have the dealer check the Backlash and pinion depth...
