Unhappy siren sound from the rear??????

i was on the highway and after 170 miles it started and after 400 miles it got to the point it sounded like a siren was going in the back of the car. when its sitting still, its silent but once u start driving the car its LOUD. at low speeds it makes a click (like in the driveway). this really makes me mad cuz i've only had the car for a week.

thanks for the help,
mike

Could possibly be your gears, does the whining noise increase with speed?

If you experienced a bad case of wheel hop during heavy accelleration, then have noises coming from the rear end, I'd have the car towed in to have the gears checked out. I've had catastrofic gear failures before while the car was in motion. It's not something I'd recommend as a 'must do' experience.

The noise isn't going away. It will only be a matter of time before it completely blows.

If they are sure it's not the gears, then they need to fix whatever else they think the problem is, don't they? If the noise is still there, the problem is still there. Be a pain in the ****. Don't be nice. Be insistant that it get fixed right. Otherwise they'll walk all over you and you'll end up paying for it once the warranty is up.
