Silly question

I have a chance to pick up a LS2 very cheap. Just wondering if its really worth switching over to the LS2 over a iron 6.0 block? At this point its just an idea of outing the LT1's for LSx based engine.

Re: Silly question

The LS2 is a great motor, but are you sure you'd want to go through the hassles of putting an LSx engine into your LT1 car? This has been discussed several times, and the costs and hassles don't seem worth it . For the power you're gaining with an LSx, you can build an LT1 to surpass that for way less time & money.

Re: Silly question

I put an LT1 into a v6 camaro....the price to power combo is great!!!!!

I dont see the big gain from LT1 to LS1...partly because the aftermarket for LT engines are much more towards performance, and the response of Iron blocks own.

That's the most ridiculous response I've read in awhile! What ISN'T "performance" about the LSx aftermarket, and how does an iron block "respond" to mods??

Until you're running extreme high horsepower, tons of boost and/or juice, and/or constant abuse, then an all aluminum engine stands up JUST FINE and "responds" just as well as an iron block . Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't C5R and C6R engines still all aluminum? They seem to work ok .

Re: Silly question

Naw i wouldn't do it. There would be too many things to do to get it to fit. LT4s are cool though.

Re: Silly question

Pick up the engine and sell it on ebay to make a profit. Its not worth the time and money, and plus LT's are so much quieter than LSx's

Re: Silly question

Go LT4 if your doing a swap. It's a direct bolt-in.

LT4's put down more power then LS1's do.

Re: Silly question

I think you guys are over looking a few things. First he said LS2, not LS1.That is 350 rwhp in stock form. Or very close to it. Yes get the motor and put it in. It will be well worth it. And second, uhohcop- your numbers are nice but when my car was a bolt on car it put down 351 rwhp and 365 rwtq. So i think the lt4 kit is a waste of money.

Re: Silly question

Thanks for your input. First I should say that the car this is going it has been completely taken apart so it really wont be to much to put it in. 2nd I already have a LT4 daily driver camaro that puts down more then 370 to the rear and has been in the high 10's.

The reason I am looking into the LSx based engines is they are so many of them around and Millions of parts. The LS2 that showed up was a broken #1 rod from a leaking injector. Nothing else was hurt in it. Now I need wiring and PCM..

Re: Silly question

Broken rod from leaking injector? You mean like it hydrolocked and bent the rod? That scares me for the crank....

Re: Silly question

yes the intake valve was open and it was from sitting over night and it hydorlocked and the rod broke. The crank is stright .00017 out and dont think I want that crank anyway.
