Post Shopping for 02 WS6

With the new incentives being offered by GM I've turned my attention toward buying a new WS6. After sitting down with one of the local dealers though and figuring out a rough estimate of the monthly payments we came up with $570.00 for 72 months. Ouch!! This is with about 4 grand trade in on my 96 SS and 0%. There is less than a year of payoff left on the SS so that is why only 4 grand for a trade in. The WS6 lists for about 33k. I'm no mathematician but when I sit down and work the numbers the monthly payments are nowhere near that. What am I missing? I figure taxes and tag fit in there somewhere but can't figure them adding over 100 bucks to my monthly payment.
I'd really like a new WS6, they are a sweet ride but even with incentives they are pricing it well out of my range. Is this about what others are shelling out a month for your cars?

That does sound high, I got C's in math so don't listen to me but I do agree with you. At 0%, it seems like your payments should only be around $425-430 for 72 months, I dunno...

Beats me ... let's see what I come up with.

$33,000 for the car
add 6% tax (yours may be higher or lower) -$1980

add $100 tags/license - (may be higher/lower)

Add dealer's prep fees - $400

Add transportation to dealer - $500

Total for car - $35,980

Deduct $4,000 trade-in

Finance price of $31,980

Divide by 72 = $444.16 / monthly payment

What are we missing?

I don't think you can get 0 financing for 72 months. I thought it was only on 36 months. If I am right the interest over 72 months could easily make up the difference. Just an idea. Hope this helps and have fun with your new car.

Hi, you might want to check and see if they've "added" an extended waranty, under coating, paint protectant and crap like that. When I bought my '98, I thought the payments were about a "hundred bucks" a month high, and sure enough when we sat down to finalize the deal all that extra crap was added in. Over their strenuous objections I made them delete it all and the payments were right close to what I had figured. I ordered my '02 overseas through a Military place so they didn't even try to pull that crap. Good luck, the '02 LS1's are very nice cars, both the Camaro and Trans Am. Later.......Brent

Well, I think you could only get 0% for 36 months before this new deal that GM has going now. Currently, you have an option of 0% or 3000 rebate on a new GM vehicle financed for up to 72 months. At least that is what I've been told by the dealers.
Yeah, I just can't figure why the payments would be that high even at 60 months. I've also got a GM supplier discount and was given the runaround about how they couldn't accept that since this vehicle was going to be in high demand. I think I may have another dealership that's willing to work with me though so we'll see how it goes. Can't wait to park one of these beauties in the garage next to my GN. Any other tips or advice?

Correction to what I stated above. Actually 0% is available for 60 months not 72.

TODAY I picked up my 02 SS! And I got a pretty good deal. I just decided to start looking for one yesterday. I figured I better ****** one up while I had one in my sights. They are selling quick! Check out my post and all the encouragement I got from the guys on this board and the story behind my purchase. Take a calculator with you. It is easy to figure the monthly payment with a 0% interest rate.I paid $29,506 plus 600 freight and tags tags and title. My payments are 548 for 60 months. Oh yeah I got the extendo warrany for another 19 bucks a month so my payment was really like $529.00 a month.

around 560 a month , basically due to the roll over from my trade in ( i still owed alot and i think they "appraised" it a little low ) i also have kind of a high interest rate on that
