My friend in Michigan just bought 99 Z-28 Camaro Auto , can somebody tell me about shift points , on how many rpms he have to shifted and on how mant MPH you know something like 6200/50moh in 2dn ....

 

Its an auto.. why is he trying to shift it?

Or are you guys setting up shift points in a program so it will shift where you are wanting it to?

If its the second case, then go to a dyno and get a graphical reading of THAT car, then using it, you can fine tune your shifts to fit with how that car would shift best..

If its the first case, its a waste of time and energy to shift an electronic transmission.. Change your trannys valve body and then you can enjoy shifting an auto...

 

Om, can you tell on how many MPH car (on the track) gonna shift in 2nd , 3rd and 4th gear

 

He needs to put it in drive and let it shift itself. That is the best for performance from a modern computer controlled transmission.

 

OK I know that , but I wanna know for some reason on hany MPH tranny gonna shift in 2nd ,3rd and 4th ???

what he wants to know, at least i do also is where is a factory shift point if your in drive at wide open throttle? i just bought mine and had it up to 5700 rpm and then i backed off to shift to 2nd. what rpm will it shift by itself without backing off the gas?

well..obviously it depends on the gear ratio's..but, my 99 with 2.73's..goes like this
1-2-about 58MPH
2-3-about 95MPH
and i've yet to try it..but from what i've been told..it will hold 3rd gear all the way to 155 or so..

 

in my old auto v6 with 3.08 it redlined in 3rd ant about 120 mph. What rear gearing does your frind have?

In my last auto Z28, I had 3.73's.. It would go into 4th at 115ish and then on to 150+.

In my car, I used a programmer to change the factory shift points based on my dyno readings to give me better shifts.. It was shifting in the 5850rpm range for every shift.

Stock gears for an auto are 2.73 and 3.23

manual 6 speeds have 3.42 stock

2 most common aftermarket gears to install on our cars are 3.73's and 4.10's

 

He tell me 4.30 , meybe he make mistake , meybe he have 4.10
SO whith 4.10 on how many MPH tranny gonna shift in 2nd 3rd and 4th ???
