Service Engine Soon Light

Hey guys I just bought a 02 Red and Silver Anniversary SS and the Service Engine Soon light just came on.....I was going around 90 and then it popped on.... I didnt feel anything go wrong or anything so I guess my Question is does that light come on when it feels about its due or time (Milage wise..it has 47700 miles) for service....I know that sounds wierd but my buddys Service engine light came on all the time and the damn thing never went away and it was a rebuilt engine....

I Serviced the Car when I got it.... Put in synthetic oil...changed the Rear Diff fluid, fuel filter and lubed all the points.... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx

Re: Service Engine Soon Light

Comes on when something wrong is detected. Could be as simple as a loose gas cap. Go to autozone and get it scanned for free, then search it here or post up the code they give you, e.g. p1416.

SES light means that one of the sensors is out of parameters. As stated get it checked and find out what set it.

And you friend should too.

Re: Service Engine Soon Light

It was my MAF....They cleaned it out....from what the Mechanic said and removed Debris and Trash from the intake system.....

The car seems to run better also affecting the transmission. I was getting hard shifts and was shifting into 3rd before 40mph (its an Auto)....... Not the case anymore. Wierd I think
