2001-2002 Intake Question

Is it true that the 01 and 02 LS1's got the LS6 intake manifold stock? I looked at an SS the other day and the owner claimed that to be true. Just curious, thanks!

Re: 2001-2002 Intake Question

while they got a slight gain from the intake, they (01-02) had as lightly milder cam to offset the gain.

Re: 2001-2002 Intake Question

THe LS6 intake has a nice gain over 98-00 LS1 intakes... My buddy dyno'd 347rwhp w/ just a lid, P+P'd THB and a catback!... he's got a 2002 SS BTW...

I have differances (w/ linx to pix) between the to explained in my "LS* Info" stickey at the top if you want to check it out...

The cam is not to offset the gain. The cam is milder to clean up emissions so that the EGR is not needed.

i wasnt saying it was intended for that, just that a milder cam does indeed offset the gain.... good point about the egr, i forgot about that one.

Re: 2001-2002 Intake Question

yes it's true, also the ls6 intake has blow plugs so you don't explode it when it gets supercharged or turbocharged. I don't think the ls1 intake has them. ls1 on the left, ls6 on the right

I've NEVER heard of the LS6 intake having blowoff ports. The FAST intake has them for an option.

It doesn't. I've seen a NO2 backfire blow one to bits and pieces.

Re: 2001-2002 Intake Question

everyone says that the "milder" cam hurt power gains..

But all too often people are comparing the marketing brochures..

I find that the different cam gives us more power all arond.. We have some realy good low end torque.

Re: 2001-2002 Intake Question

So would putting an LS6 intake, heads, and cam on an LS1 block essentially make it an LS6? I know the LS6 block had a different casting but the displacemt was the same.
