Service Engine Soon Light

I was just cruising on a sunny afternoon today, and then I notice that my "Service Engine Soon" light comes on. I was wondering if any of you know why this happend, and how I can get it fixed.

Go to Autozone or Advanced Auto and have them scan it for you. There's no one reason the light comes on.

Need more info than that..... almost any emissions sensor can trigger the light. A random misfire will trigger the light from the knock sensor as well.

If there is an AutoZone near you, they can check the code for free. They won't reset the code, but they will tell you why the light is on.

I have a Discount Auto parts like 5 min away from my house. What should I ask them to check for?

Nvm guys, I went down to Jiffy Lube and got them to take it off the screen. He found nothing wrong and said that if it comes on again get a new gas filter.

lol...sounds like a pretty lame set of instructions...

once it's on...it doesn't just go away...you have to reset it or clear it. for most things anyway.

if it comes back that means something is up.
