Selling the LT1, BUYING A LS1!!!!
Selling the LT1, BUYING A LS1!!!!
finally decided to unload the 95 Z and get like a 99 or 2000 Z28 i know a lot of stuff on lt1' s but not ls1's what should i look for when buying one any advise or tips would be helpful thanks my soon to be LS1 brothers!!!!!!!!!!!
Buyone an LS1 is about like buying anything else, and isn't terribly different from your LT1. The '01-'02 cars make more power stock, and have less emmissions stuff. The rotors commonly warp, and the clutch on the '98-'00 cars sucks. Other than that they are all very close. There are minor differences, but nothing major. Just find a nice clean on the that no one has beat on (too much) and you do fine.
I have to agree on the brakes. They are bad, I never had this problem with my 97 Z so it must be a change in 98 or so. Not much you can do about that other than expect a newer Z to have warped rotors.
Do you plan on getting a 6-speed or auto?
LS1 6-speeds are ok at best for a stock car but with any mods or higher miles look to see if it ha been replaced. If the clutch is still stock just know in your head that you'll have to eventually need to drop a few on getting that upgraded to 2001 spec parts atleast.
As with any car purchace check carfax.com and get to know teh GM codes in the driver side door so that you can tell what options the car had when new.

I just basically did the same thing except my 95 got wrecked. just bought a '99 and this thing flat rocks! I put my borla from my 95 on it and really seemed to waken it up even more. you will love the switch. later
oh you lucky sumb!tch!! I gotta wait another year or more berfore I sell the 94 Z for my '01-'02 SS or Ram Air 6spd. I wish it was my time to be selling the old girl, ill miss her like none other but hell, you gotta move on some time, right?
But hey, find a good one (nice paint, no dings, etc) and low miles, and dont make exceptions to what you want. If yer not sure its EXACTLY what you want, sleep on it. Like i said, i LOVE my car more than most people would think is healthy, and the only thing i would trade her in for (within reason) is a 6spd LS1, but i do regret getting an A4. i rushed into it because i wanted a Z28 soooo bad and it was a great deal. but hey im happy overall so who cares. the moral of my long winded babling is get what you want and noting less. do that and youll be sittin pretty. Good luck buddy. im envious...
