Talking To sell my LT1? LS1 q's inside:(long)

I'm trying to make up my mind on selling my Lt1 for an LS1. I havent ridden in one yet, though I intend to later this week (a dynoed 320rwhp 2000 WS6- with catback and intake)

He has had some nasty problems (clutch went out at 7000 miles, tranny at 15,000, and rear end at 17,000) and I'm just wondering what normal problems I might expect from a 50k LS1 car. My 135k LT1 is still strong as sin, but I'm just tempted to move on by my mod desires (read on to understand) and I'm just wondering what to look out for. I'm going to start looking now for the "right car" (Black or red convertible 6spd z28, SS, Trans Am, or Formula or even if I can find a C5 (targa or rag top) that was in a fender bender) and sell my camaro in the spring after I do some more work to it as a nice payment of the cost of the LS1 car.

Needless to say, I want to stay N/A without nitrous if I can. I was working on doing a turbo kit for my LT1, but in the process blew up a few things before it went onto the engine, and just decided not to continue to bother. I dont want to sacrifice it's ability as a daily driver, so keeping *decent* gas milage is great, but I still want power. 18-19 mpg for what I do in my LT1 is fine, but my friend with the Ws6 gets more of 21-22 and he gets to play with it more... Hmmm... Even though the LS1 stickers some said gas milage was lower then LT1's...

But for streetable, with a chip, people had said "Get the Lt4 package and hot cam package" with better intake, heads (or port stock) and the hot cam, headers, catback, intake, it was all supposedly good for 350rwhp and about 400-410fwhp. Which is great, sure. Probably enough. But I dont know about the LS1 (differences in intake, manifolds etc) from year to year. But I heard the LS1 hotcam kit was worth it's weight in gold... I did a search, but couldnt find anything. I heard all sorts of things through the grape vine, but no #s. I dont know what year (from 98 on) bu this is what I KNOW I'd put on it:
Intake, LS1 hotcam pkg, perhaps some better heads, headers (probably shorty or mid-length) cat back, new clutch, MAYBE 3.73 gears. But that's about it. With an LT1, I'm doomed for a mild cam to 400HP (which is great!) but I think not enough. Not to mention at 135k, I feel it's time to move on anyway. It was great to own the car for a full summer season, but I'm really considering moving to a newer Ls1... Anyway, I digress. What can I expect from different year LS1's with those mods (bolt ons and rockers/cam/heads) on the stock bottom end? I know I might be able to see mid 11's with slicks, sure. But it's coming time to start planning for what to do. Any tips on starting to look for the LS1? Thanks.
