Seafoamed, now the car bogs a little
I seafoamed my 01 z28 through the brake booster hose and although now it feels a little smoother, it bogs on takeoff and wont spin the tires much at all. I was curious as to which one you guys think I did. Did I foul my plugs, o2s, or both. If it had stopped my cats they would throw a SES right? Car has 44,000 miles on it and was getting about 340 miles to a tank before, havent checked the mileage yet since the seafoam.
If you read the bottle (i think it still has it on there) it says you should replace spark plugs after running through the intake. Scan it for codes even if it's not throwing an SES light and see what's going on with the fuel and o2's (through the scanner).
It has gotten a little warmer outside. Maybe that's what you're noticing in performance.
I've seafoamed most of my cars with no ill results through the brake booster vaccuum hose in the intake manifold and never had to change anything.

Sorry, took a couple days to get back to you. I have seafoamed a couple of LT1 cars and never had problems only positives, but this time it did something? I forgot to mention that right after I seafoamed it, I took it out for the cleaning, blew it out real good and it threw a SES light while I was out. I got back, checked the light, and it was multiple misfire? Cleared it and run the past two days, threw no lights. I scanned it just a second ago and it was fine, no codes and 8 of 8 emissions readiness monitors.
I feel kinda sure its the plugs cause it misfired according to the scanner. I'm about to pull one of the plugs and see. I guess what I would really like to know is if a cat can be fouled and not throw a SES.
Never had any problems at all with the seafoam treatment untill I made the mistake of using the deep creep they make to try to clean my mass air. OOPPS it left a film on the wires and kicked my ses light on low voltage on the maf. I cleaned it with some CRC maf cleaner and fixed the problem, but I learned just cuz the can says air intake system cleaner doesn't mean it works on the WHOLE system. I had a rough idle problem and scrubbed the throttle body with a nylon brush, and the deep creep worked PERFECT for that. I had JUST put new plugs in, and had no ill effects from the seafoam in through the booster hose. Maybe clean your MAF it made a HUGE diff in my Acceleration. Hit me back and let me know how it goes
I cleaned the maf not very long ago. I havent had the car but a couple of months and so far ive just done a couple minor things. Changed plugs, cleaned Mass Airflow Sensor, put synthetic in and seafoamed it. It ran perfect before I foamed it, I just wanted to make sure she was clean. I put NGK TR5 plugs in it, maybe having a smaller gap fouled them easier? I dunno. Sooner or later I will check my plugs.
It is possible I need 02s, the car had an SES light when I got it, and was throwing codes for all 4 O2s and the Mass Airflow, but I checked the engine sensor fuse and it was blown. After that it was fine. It still coulda been running rich for who knows how long and had them on their way out?

you like those NGK plugs? I swear by AC platinums in my car. But in my bike I love the NGK platinums. How many miles does the car have and have you ever put a new opti on it? Even running rich if she was gettin enough fire she should have burned right through the extra carbon and junk. Unless it was So bad that a piece of carbon got stuck between in the electrode gap. I guess you are right you will probly have to pull the plugs and see how they look and go from there
