They are doing just that on "Trucks!" (but its not Stacy doing it anymore).. I don't think its an LS1 though.

One interesting thing I saw, is they had to get a new radiator, and put fans that push on the outside.. because the extra length of the V8 ate up the room where the puller fans would normally sit.

well i know a T56/LS1 pullout can run about 3-4 grand based on milage. then i'm guessing another 1500 for suspension and maybe 600 for additional electronics...

6 thousand?

If you have to ask, too much. I don't mean that as a jerk, but if you're on a tight budget it won't work. It sounds like he has no idea what he's in for.

If he's not on a budget, just get his checkbook.

I've done a V6 to V8 swap previously, and it took about three times longer than I thought and cost nearly 2X what I thought.

wouldnt you want to have an idea what a project is going to run you? i dont think many of us on here can just say "do it" and worry about the costs afterward.

thats why you ask around to see how much something costs when i had my h/c, and exhaust done at once i guessed wrong and thankfully had the extra cash laying around

My implication was this, work on this project in your spare time when ever that is available until it is finished. Just make sure this isn't a daily driver, and just keep working on it until it's done. If something comes up, address it. That may involve some additional saving or scouting about on the internet or junk yards. This long work duration will spead the project cost out over a longer period, and will not hurt the owner as bad. Then, when it's done- it's done.

Don't think of it as a repair bill with a total charge, think of it as an expensive hobby that you finance as you go along.
