Running HOT?

Well, lately my car has been running at about 210*. Is this normal? SHouldnt it be more like 160*? on rainy days the heat from the motor fogs up the windshield. And when its sunny i can see the heat rays comming off the hood of the car! Is this normal? Or is my thermostat busted or something? Thanks

I know mine is always at 210 degrees. I heard on the board many times that the temp actually varies between 170 to 220 or something like that. The gauge is just designed to stay around 210 to not freak people out. Doesn't seem like it is that hot, but may want to have it checked out if you are worried.

You have a 98 so your temp guage is real. Could be several things:

I'd check for low coolant, No fans - blown fuse, bad tstat, water pump, air in system, bad radiator cap, radiator blocked with something, leaking heater core, bad sending unit.

Why would it run 160º? The thermostat will be 195º or 205º, and the fans do not come until the motor is well above 160º. My '98 always ran about 210º.

210° is pretty normal in any modern fuel injected car.
