Rubber meets the road

My '02 TA has just over 19k and the factory RSAs are just about history.

Question: Is 19-20k about average for RSAs? What was your experiencewith this tire?

I'm considering several tires to replace the RSAs, and would like to know if you have any experience with these:

- Goodrich CompTA KDW - heard these are awesome

- Bridgestone Potenza RE750s - I have had really good experience with other B/stone products in the past.

- Pirelli P7000

I read all the stuff on tirerack.com, but want to know how these tires did on F-body cars. Did you notice a major handling improvement when you switched tires? The RSAs are trash IMO. Have to start turn in way before you need the tires to bite, and wet traction is a joke

I've never had the RSAs, but 20k out of them isn't too bad at all. If you're looking for a real performance tire, you won't get much more out of it.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Comp TAs. Heard mixed reviews about the Bridgestones, but you probably know more about them then I do. I have no idea about the Pirellis.

I'd say take a look at the Goodyear Eagle F1s. I currently have about 6k miles on them, and I predict an easy 15-20k more (thats with quite a few track visits). I think they are an awesome street tire. They hook up quite well. Even though I do take it easy most the time, in the rain I've never lost traction unintentionally.

When I bought my car, it had the RSAs on them, but I'm not sure if they were the factory ones, the car had 40K on it and the tires were almost bald, so they might have been factory.

The tires in my sig. are awesome. I paid $600 out the door for a new set and they have great grip.

SFB767 - yea, what he said...

inherited the RSA's with 36,000 miles (original) BALD, however, being the dumbass I am promptly replaced with new RSA's..

gForce T/A KDW - that's probably what I'll go with.

SFB767 where did you get them for $600?? I assume that was total price with balance valve stem, etc. That's cheaper than tirerack when you consider I have to pay somebody to mount/balance/valve stem the tires once they arrive.

I'm hoping to squeeze another 2-3k miles out of the RSAs. The RSAs still have decent dry grip like when they were new, and it's dry season in north TX right now. It literally won't rain a drop until like late August (but it will be like 102 every day).

get drag radials, they hook like nothing else. BF goodrich G-Force Comp TAs. Thats what I have and I ran 1.9 60ft times on full throttle launches. Make sure to get any tire you buy at America's Discount Tire. They saved me over $250 on my drag radials over tirerack's price.
