Road Racing and 1/4 Mile Results:

I had a blast today at No Problem Raceway.

Today was the annual Vette vs. Viper shootout and sadly enough this year was the first year I didn't show up in a Vette.
....however

The Z really held its own in the road course. The lead C5 Z06 couldn't shake me in the turns and the straight-away was even worse for him I am very surprised how well the solid-rear F-body did against an entire track of IRS cars. I was told by a few people after the races that the car was very flat going into/out of the turns with very little roll and looked great. I even got complimented by a few guys with C6 Z06s

My setup:
Eibach Lowering Springs
Bilstein Shocks
SLP STB
BMR Subframe Connectors
BMR PHR
BMR ADJ TA
BMR LCAs
Vented/Slotted Rotors w/DOT 4 synthetic
245/45/17 Radials in the front and Nitto 555R 275/40/17 in the back all with 40psi.

After the roadracing event, I took her to the strip and tested out the new combo, very wary of the 10-bolt and ran 2 passes:

1st pass:
25psi in Nittos
60' 2.305
1/8 8.648
1/8 MPH 90.87
1/4 12.94
1/4 MPH 116.09

Completely spun through 1st and into 2nd. I was pretty aggravated and decided to make one more pass.

Final pass:
20psi in the Nittos

I did a nice burnout and launched about 4000 rpm slipping the clutch at around 3/4 throttle... the car bogged initially, but the 4.10s picked it right back up as I went to WOT and made the 2-3 shift slower than I'd like... the tranny needs a rebuild

60' 1.88
1/8 7.96
1/8 MPH 91.25
1/4 12.24
1/4 MPH 116.15

Not too bad. I put the car up after that pass. I didn't want to put the 10-bolt under any more stress than that for the day

My cousin spun to a 2.33 60' 14.0 @ 104 with his LS2 GTO with 25 psi in Nittos 555Rs, so he put 17 psi in his tires. When he launched, he hit hard and the shift to 2nd made his aftermarket stereo fly out of his dashboard and hit his shifter blocking his entry into 3rd. I think he ran 14.2 @ 87 or something before he decided to hang it up.

Low 12s are pretty decent for a 6 speed with that suspension and tire. What were the track conditions? 116 seems a little low for the power.

116-117 is about right for a stock weight F-body and 225 lbs driver IMO. The same power in a C5 will do around 119-120.

DA was 788.

Very respectable time. I've run 12.12 @ 119 with Nitto's with a 2.12 60ft. I have a hard time slipping the clutch at the track. I just got a set of 15" Bogart's with Hoosier quick time pro bias ply's to try and solve that issue. Sound's like you had a good day out!!!

Hey Kraest, on your spring/shock setup, which Eibachs? ProKit or Sportline? Regular Bilsteins or the HDs?

HD's are the regular Bilsteins for our cars.

Honestly, I have no idea. If I had to guess, I'd think that they are the takeoffs for the SS and about a 1"-1.5" lowering Eibach.

Probably the Pro kit ..... I think Sportlines drop the car damn near ~2 inches??

It's actually quite amazing how well these cars do work on a road course ..... WAY better than common perception would believe!

I've gotten into racing in the SoloSprint series here in Ontario (basically, amateur racing, against a clock, on several different road courses) in the last couple years, and it's a blast! I'm putting a full suspension into the car in the next ~month, but even on all the stock components, the thing hauls a$$ around a course . I can't wait to get the springs, shocks and sway bars in place ..... hopefully be able to show some of the pesky Subarus a thing or two?! (yes, those STi's are damn fast on a road course!! ).

Nice 1/4 mile time too, esp. considering the suspension setup you've got .

Did you set your car up like that or was all that suspension stuff on there when you got the car?
