the right cam

hey guys i was wondoring what cam i should be going along with. i am currently running a 3400 stall and my other mods are below my sig. i am looking for something that is good drivability on the streets since this is a daily driver. emissions does not matter to me at all. i dont go to the tracks much so i don't really drag race. i am hoping to pick up close to 370-380rwhp. thanks.

the TR 224 cam is a very proven performer on a DD car. you should be able to hit 370rwhp, althogh the auto may cost you some. but withthe high stall you'll still have the power to the ground.

Re: the right cam

not sure how the 23x cams react with the auto trans as DDs.

but i know my 233 cam is a bit touchy in city driving with my m6. but i think alot of that is a mediocre tune in the lower rpms.

you have to watch out for cam surge, but i think autos soak some of that up.

keep researching how the bigger cams react with the autos in DDs and you should be able to narrow it down.

Re: the right cam

well....when i find $400 on the sidewalk, then $100 in the couch...

maybe i'll make the trip 350mile up to orlando and have mike norris tune it.

OR

i could wait till i install some Dart 205 heads and SVO 30# injectors this spring/summer and have it all tuned at once.

:blah:

Re: the right cam

Futral's line of cams is near-stock driveable with the exception of the F-15. Many, many people have made over 400rwhp and stock driveability with the F-13 with a 6-speed. Not sure how that equates to an auto.

Re: the right cam

milage on the highway shouldn't suffer too much with a cam and proper tune.

i know i only lost about 4mpg with mine.

sevearl 300 mile trips have yielded right around 24mpg highway doing 80ish.

and the 4 times i've checked my "around town" (not quite normal city) it was 18-19mpg.

granted that is with an m6, but still

Re: the right cam

I actually GAINED 2mpg from 26 to 28 on the highway, go figure. In town my milage is really sad. i have to fill up about once a week, and i only drive to the school, and its about 5 blocks away, so i dont know.

I also need about $100 out of the couch and $400 on the sidewalk to get a tune.......
