removing cats for track... will ses light cause retard or loss of power?
basically what the title says...
i've been dropping the y pipe and running manifolds/cats at the track latly... and finding off-the-path ways of supporting the rest of the exhaust... i would like to remove the cats as well next time... which means i will have to take the o2 sensors out as well... which i know will trigger an ses light. now, will it just be a light? or will the computer trigger retard, or anything else that will HINDER my performance?

not getting me dude..
i am going to be REMOVING the part of the exhaust that the o2 sensors mount too... there will be no place to put them... or simulators... unless i feel like duct taping them to the end of the manifold

the front o2 sensors have to be kept in place. i think one is located on the manifold and one on the Ypipe.
removing those would be bad
removing just the rear o2 sensors has no affect on the car.
are you saying you are planning on running just open manifolds?

yes i am talking about just running open manifolds... and i know at least 1 sensor hooks into the exhaust AFTER the manifolds... so i was wondering if the absense of that sensor would result in power loss
Re: removing cats for track... will ses light cause retard or loss of power?
Yes that will cause serious problems with your car. The PCM determines how much fuel the engine needs by using those O2 sensors. Also, running straight out of the manifolds with the O2's exposed will cause the PCM to adjust for an extremely lean condition by dumping a ton of fuel into the motor. The second pair after the cats are just there to make sure the cats are working right. If you want to take the cats off, you need to get an off-road y-pipe and a set of headers or just an off-road y-pipe for the stock manifolds. Either way, you'll need sims or a basic tune to turn off the SES light.
