Removing cats?!?!

I had my car tuned. I had the rear 02 sensors deleted, and the EGR/AIR is removed. So the cats will be dead in about a year.

Who has removed their cats and replaced it w/ just pipe? How does it sound? Did it hurt the back pressure? Does it sound raspy????

Let me know

Thanks!!!!

sound is really nice, i have it going into a magnaflow catback and it gets a bit harsh in the upper rpms, but i don't think it's too bad.

i'm gonna be pulling off my bassani ORP in the next couple weeks for a LT install.

if you are interested in possibly buying it, PM me

I know w/ my LT1, the first stages, when I took off the cat and installed an ORP, the loss of back pressure really moved my torque band. It was a HUGE difference down low, and I didn't like it. It was all high end hp, and down low just plain sucked.

The LS1 doesn't have as much low end torque as it sits, and I didn't want to make it worse by removing the cats. I also don't want a raspy sound.

So, no, I don't want to hurt the back pressure. Stock cars need it for low end torque. Race cars, drag cars, that is different.

I run with no Cats, it has abit of Rasp rumble at a certain RPM if you hold it, but the WOT sounds mean as hell. It does kinda smell like a lawn mower though...... And alot more fumes come out of the tips.

well with ANY muffler you are still gonna sound louder with out the cats...simple as that.

HOW much will depend on the muffler.

it made my magnaflow quite a bit louder, but i like it
