Remove the baffles on the stock air box????
sounds like a lot of work for what is commonly had for under $160....
I think I would just buy one.. But I prefer the clean smooth belly of the aftermarket lids..
EBAY has some going for $150..
try that..

Don't bother, you won't notice any performance gain. Wait for GP on any lid and jump on it.

Lids can be had for under $100 ... save your time and effort and just get an aftermarket. I bought my MTI lid on GP for $99.
Before that, however, I did shave all the garbage from under the stock lid. No difference really. The stock lid has a smaller opening and those goofy air silencers attached.
Get an aftermarket lid and a Holley PowerShot filter.

I have done it. I shaved the inside of the airbox and i removed the baffles. If i remember correctly i put 3 inch rubber caps you find in the plumbing section at a hardware store on the sides where the air baffles were. I did notice some gain so it was worthwile to me since i didnt want to spend over $100 on a new lid.

New lids are commonly less than $99 brand new now. Some you can find used for like $75.SO depending on how broke you are right now I think an aftermarket might be better for you.

Well I just removed the baffles, it took me about 15 min. and when I took off the lid I noticed that the rubber piece that holds the lid on wasnt on right so I was only getting probably about half the air I should have been getting, so I fixed that to, now I notice a lot better acceleration reaction than before. But I dont know if that was from me remove the baffles , or the rubber piece being on their wrong, or both? the reason I wanted to do it myself is because Im going to be getting a K&N fipk around Christmas time.
