reliable 550hp?
reliable 550hp?
looking at getting an LS1 4th gen.....
i've built several gen 1 sbc, and an LT1, but never an LS1. i am wondering what mods need to be done to an ls1 to make 550hp at the crank, and still reliable and totally streetable? dont want to use a blower or nitrous. can this be done with out touching the shortblock?
here is what im thinking after looking at texes speed's website....
head and cam package
TB
full exhaust
stall converter
any other trans work needed?
and computer?
whats the best way to tune the engine on an LS1?
want to keep mods under $5k, excluding suspension and rear end work...

i think the highest H/C street package I've seen is 475 or so. Mabe with a whole bunch of bolt ons like LTs, full exhaust, ram air, pulley, LSX intake, and a good cold day it might get to 500 or so. 550 is pretty hard to get reliable I think
