rearend is off car and gears got wet, what to do?

rearend is off car and gears got wet, what to do?
I have my rearend off the car, the cover iss off (no fluid) and my brother decided to clean them off with the hose. Are these going to rust overnight or what should I do to preserve them until the 31st (rear goes back in).
How should I FULLY clean them?
