Ok, should I do Mobil 1, Redline, or Royal Purple in the rear? And, i've heard that it's not good to put synthetic in the tranny, cause it eats away the syncros cause they're paper or something like that, is that true? If it is true, what would be the best regular fluid to put in it, if it's not true, what's the best synthetic fluid to put in it? Thanks a lot guys, i'm gonna be changing the fluids in a week or two when I get back from NY.

Also, how many bottles of fluid do I need for the rear, and how many bottles do I need for the tranny?

 

I use the fluids for the tranny/rear that's recommended in the owners manual. but I buy them myself and take them to the mechanic.

 

synthetics are fine.. I dont see how they would do any harm as they have had tons of testing on them and could be liable if it were common for their products to hurt your car..

I just put the Royal Purple stuff in the rear, with the additive. Royal Purple says you don't have to use the additive, but we will see. My car likes to kill the additive in about 10k miles, and start to make the low speed turn noise. I just did this, so we will see in a year.....

 

I knew guys that work at Royal Purple.. Even then I had a hard time getting the stuff so I stopped dealing with them.. Then I went to Mobil 1 and had a hard time too since I wanted the filter and the 5qt jug.. Not common here in HOUSTON TX (4th largest city in the US).. So off I am in search of better fluids..
