what are good gears to get for street and strip?

 

depends on a few of things wheres your peak hp? Auto or stick shift? What are your mph goals for the end of a 1/4 track? And how much do you actually drag race? If you trap at say 105mph and have an auto and that was your goal all along then 3.42's are probably gonna be your best bet in my opinion cuz ive heard of the auto tranny's having problems with numerically higher gears. Now with a 6 speed 4.10's would probably be the answer off the top of my head without running it through a calulator cuz i think you could hit 110 or so at like 6000rpms which in reality the trap is on an avg of the last i think 60' of the track so really youd just about ping the rev limiter in 4th gear with a stick....bottom line is its not a cut and dry answer and we'd need more info.

m6 i ran it once. 13.6@108 as far as i know its stock besides borla and mti air lid. what other info would be helpful?

 

tire size and et & mph goals

 

my tires are 275-40-17 i think
and i wanna eventually be running like 120. but now my next question what is the widest tire i can fit on a stock rim.....my friend told me i could fit 315's, but i just want a second opinion.

 

3.73's would probably be your best bet running those tires and that mph with a peak hp of say 6000 rpms which to run 120mph you powerband would move up to at least that more than likely...youd be at 123@6000rpms in 4th gear.
