Question Reamin' out my cats!!!

The cats that Mac sent with their mid length headers started throwing the inefficiency code after about 7-8 months I think. Now that I'm "crutched" with O2 sims I might as well gut the cats..... I just passed the new (9 mos. old) insp. standards in my area and with OBDII....these guys just plugged in the computer term. and monitored the system----no sniffins'!!!!

Question: What's the best way to gut the cats ?------or do I NOT really want to do that for some reason.

What potential headaches are involved?
Experienced help only please. Thanx

Just a guess----is that some kind of "not too cool" exhaust tone???? If so, what's it like----please describe "drone".

Usually the trained ear can hear a gutted cat on a car.. On my LT1 it made a metallic ting sound that was present in the exhaust note.

From what I have read and studied, I would either get Hi Flow cats and be done with them or get cats and test pipes. Run cats for when you need to (inspections or traveling to places that need them to be legal).

If I ever do get Headers, I think I will get some with the cats and test pipes.. Just cause I want to see if there is any gain but I am very doubtful that the gain is worth the effort.
