Re: Ram Air

on a similar thought...

do a search for seafoam

its and internal engine cleaner...LIQUID...that you pour or suck into your engine while it's running. i've done it several times to several engines. none have hydrolocked.

and that was with more than a cup of liquid sucked in to the engine in about 30sec.
without even going through the filter, which would probably break up most dropplets into pretty small units anyway. as studytime mentioned...it would get evaporated quickly.

I assume you were asking me ... hotcam, TEA S2 heads - 10:9 and a FIPK for induction ... both times - H/C and bolt on were done in around a +1200 D/A ... race weight 3600lbs ... Hoosier QTPs and skinnies ... The bolt on was with a 3200 stall and the H/C was a 3800 stall ... LTs and a cut out.

Re: Ram Air

Is the SSRA safe on a lowered car?

I am afraid it will sit so low that it may be likely to drag on things or actually be partially submerged in a puddle. Does anyone have the SSRA on a lowered daily driver? Any problems?

Re: Ram Air

I've seen more than a couple little 2.5 liter mazda V6s suck up tons of water almost instantly. Don't underestimate the amount of inertia that's built up in a running motor. Not to mention the amount of airflow that's going on, even at idle.

Now, the relevance isn't really exact, because on those instances it was a sealed cold air pipe leading to a filter hanging below the splash guard under the motor. Put that thing in a deep puddle at anything more than idle and you're done. Even a motor as small as that has more than enough inertia to swallow enough water to fill up some cylinders. I've actually seen some of those engines cranked over with the plugs removed and watched the water jets shooting out of each spark plug hole. It's quite a sight. Didn't stop me from getting one of those cold air intakes though. It doesn't happen as often as you think. It IS possible though. Just use your head.
