Question Raising rev limiter and shift points

I put in the 02 Z06 cam in this weekend. It basically feels like stock except for now it pulls pretty good past 57-5800 where it seemed the stock cam only made power to. Problem is that my shift points are at ~57-5800 and the LS6 cam wants to go much higher. So, what options do I have with raising my shift points and rev limiter to to ~63-6400? I don't want to send my PCM away to have it programmed. Will a hypertech do this? Any other mediums?

Yes, Hypertech will work (as will other programmers.......ie: Predator? LS1 Edit, Superchips). The Hypertech will allow you to raise the rev limiter to 6600 RPM (maybe only 6500? ) and the shift points up +6 mph for the 1-2 shift, and +12 mph for the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts (sorry if my numbers are wrong, but I know they're close to that). For each 1 mph increase on the shifts, they say you get upto ~100 rpm increase.

I've currently got the HPP3 (Hypertech) for my car, and it works good IMO. You can also increase the shift firmness which is nice.

i hope you put in new springs as well as the cam. if not i would not raise the rev limiter at all. all you will do is float your valves and then you will have a problem. trust me, you don't want to raise your rev limiter. i mechanically over revved to about 6400 and had re-build my valve-train. do not raise your rev limiter if you have stock springs.

Hopefully he would have changed springs as well? It just wouldn't be wise to do the cam and not springs. Then as long as the springs were changed, rev to your heart's content!

Does anyone know a vendor that sells the LS6 cam as a kit like they do with the hotcam? With springs etc... Also if I do this mod and need to raise the limiter can I find someone that has a Predator,HPP3 that could raise my limiter and use theirs?

you can't use someone else's hyperetech unless they return their car to stock tuning first....it only allows you to use it on ONE vehicle at a time so u can't BOTH have any hypertech at once this is because the hypertech stores your vin information once you have ANY non-stock tuning....try ebay....people sell em for like 100 bucks on there...

Yes, I changed the springs too. I put in the '02 LS6 units. Yeah, it really wouldn't make sense to put in the LS6 cam and not springs with it, because the LS6 cam really only is noticably different above 5500 rpm IMO. I had to bite the bullet and get a new Hypertech today. I would've went used, but I needed it before this weekend, so I didn't have any time to wait.

UTIMATEORANGESS---What kind of times are you running with the LS6 cam? When you tuned it with LS1 Edit, did you change the fuel/timing maps any, or did you just adjust rpm and shift points?
