When you use race fuel dont you need to upgrade your ign. and coil so the higher oct. gas burns all they way?

If you are all stock like your sig says, you do not need racing fuel. It would be a waste of money and would probably do more bad than good

Octane is an expression of a fuel's resistance to detonation. With a stock motor, 91/93 octane is fine.

Stealth2 is correct when he said, Octane is an expression of a fuel's resistance to detonation. Most people assume that a higher octane gasoline is a more powerful gasoline and that by running it they will go faster. Unfortunately that is not true. Unless your engine has a detonation problem higher octane fuel won't benefit you in any way. What higher octane does is let you run more timing or more compression, the things that cause detonation. It's the extra timing or the higher compressio ratio that gives you the horsepower increase. The higher octane fuel just keeps the motor from detonating and destroying itself.

octane

ditto, as far as damage, too high of an octane will destroy your cats in short time. (melts your substrate). you will need higher octane levels or ignition retarding if you go forced induction and over do it. superchargersonline.com has a good calculater for that should you go that route.
