Quick Question For you guys...

Some guy on the Mustang forum said that his bone stock LS1 T/A Automatic with a 2.73 gear ran a 12.8

Do they come with a 2.73 gear?

IS this possible? I had a '99 Z28 6-Speed that would only run 13.6 and that was driving it pretty hard.

Thanks for your input!

Yep, most of the autos came with the 2.73 rear end I think. I think that time is possible with some good tires - I'd be surprised if he hit that with the stock goodyears. There have been a few stock LS1 f-bodies that hit the 12s - even more if you add good tires.

The M6s are a little more difficult to launch, and often the autos are faster...

I'd want to see the timeslip before I would believe him. I think he is exaggerating his times.

If he did it he will have a timeslip. If he doesn't show it to you then he is a lying. Tell him to put up or shutup. A 2.73 geared A4 car comes with 16' GSC tires stock. They are good for mid 13s. Yet he is claiming to run seven tenths faster than everybody else....I think he is full of hot air.

I checked out just the last page of that thread, and noticed one thing he got wrong right off:

About 10% of the 01 f-bodies got the LS6 block. *All* of the 01 f-bodies got the LS6 intake.
About 25% of the 02 f-bodies got the LS6 blcok. *All* of the 02 f-bodies got the LS6 intake.

Intake would be worth 10-15hp if they hadn't thrown in a smaller cam at the same time. The block is stronger, but doesn't add hp...

Now I'm gonna go waste some time and read the rest of the thread...
