quick help with oil press problem?

i have just recently gotten my motor rebuilt and 1 have about 3k miles on it. when i got it back it had about 40 maybe a little more pressure. now it seems to be droping to 30 and some times a little bit lower at times i see 20. and when i rev it, it does not go over 40. how can i get my oil pressure back up? i do have a decent size cam and heads but i dont think that has any affect on it but i could be wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated

Talking Yecch !!

Oil pressure, or lack thereof, is one of my pet peeves !!

Too great a clearance in the cam bearings or main bearings can cause low oil pressure, as well as overheating or too thin a viscosity of oil.

For what it's worth, go about 1/2way down here :

for minimum oil pressure specs.

What did it run before ?

Is it full of oil ? (A logical but often overlooked place to start.)

If it is nothing "simple", then you may want to visit with your friendly engine rebuilder for his thoughts - I assume he covers it with some sort of a warranty.

Good Luck !!
