question about superchargers and intakes

question about superchargers and intakes

i know a guy who will hook me up with aftermarker parts for cheap. i want to get a vortech supercharger and k&n intake, but he said i cant use the intake kit with a supercharger. is this true? he said supercharger is the intake.

Usually. supercharger assemblies come with their own K&N filter. Typically, the design is going to rearrange the way air is delivered to the engine. Pretty much, everything in front of the throttle body will be moved/changed. So, if you go ahead and get the kit, I'd hold off on the K&N untill you see what ya got. Personally, I think the Vortech is ok...but I prefer the ATI procharger. From what I hear, it's easier to install since you don't have to tap into the oil pan. ATI also sells their system with twin air-to-air intercoolers instead of a water-to-air setup like the Vortech. Finally, the ATI setup sits a bit more out of sight unlike the Vortech, which sits right on top of everything. Hope this helps you some.

i was thinking of getting the intake then the supercharger. will i be using the intake wen i get the supercharger? or will the vortech come with an intake?

The Vortech supercharger attached to the front half of the stock airbox (the bellows will be taken off) so you won't be able to use the K+N induction with this.
