Question question about sound

ok here it goes...i know a friend who has a 02 mustang GT and he has the same exhaust as me(flowmaster)..the difference in his car is he has JBA headers...and supposedly is running around town with no cats...of course i know that isnt legal...but...his car sounds bad ***...and i want my car to sound similar to that..but the the thing is i dont have the money right now for some LT headers and i dont want to run without cats...so is buying just the y pipe part with some high flow cats my only option to get close to the same sound for less money? or in doing that am i already spending as much as i would on headers?

your car will never sound like his... its not possible.

even with dual exhaust on y car it sounds nothing like a mustang. it sounds like a ls1 car with dual exhaust.

Thumbs up

Sounds like the Dynomouth exhaust is exactly what you are looking for.
The price is right, mine was $140 installed.
The sound is awesome... more refined than a cut-out or Loudmouth. I get compliments on mine all the time.
Go to page 2 of my website and it explains the whole thing. There are also pics and sound clips there.
Good luck
Dave

i know my car will never sound exactly like his..but is the best option for that rougher sound to replace the y-pipe and get some high flow cats? cuz i dont know if can just get a better exhaust cuz the one i have on there now is welded not bolted..so i might be stuck

Matter if what's welded, the Flowmaster and the rest of the stock exhaust?

No, it doesn't matter, just cut it off.

ok

so i guess just replacing my exhaust with a louder one is the cheapest way to go to get better sound. instead of buying the ypipe and high flow cats to go with my exhaust now. right?

Yeah, that's the cheapest, but i'd say the best way to go is hooker longtubes with a cutout on each side of the y-pipe and any cat back you want. Then you just uncap that beast and he won't just be jealous, but he'll **** his pants!! And it'll add a lot more power!!
