question about airbox...

those 2 big "baffles" (don't know exactly what to call them) that sit on either side of the tube between airbox and MAF, what are they?

also, i just ordered a TSP lid. will having this lid eliminate those baffles? i noticed on the TSP lid that the outlet tube is circular, just like the connection to the MAF... so... the stock airbox outlet is oval shaped, then it goes through the baffles, then the circular MAF connection. makes sense that it will eliminate the baffles.

anyone??? thanks

They are called "silencers", they quiet the airflow down so it does not cause a whistling sound on more agressive throttle. They also restrict the airflow into the MAF.
