Purchasing an LS1, does this price seem right for the damage?

Hey everyone...
I recently ran into a really great deal on a local 1998 Camaro Z28 for sale. It's silver *not my color of choice, but still oK*, t-tops, cd, fully loaded, B4C package, Flowmasters *not my exhaust of choice, but whatever*, 85K miles. However, it needs to have the front driver's side quarter panel replaced from a fender bender. She said that she took it to an auto repair place and they estimated the damage at $400-500.00 to get it fixed. Does this sound about right? I am going to test drive the car tomorrow, I will let you know how it goes. It's only $7,250.00. It's an incredible deal, but it just sounds way too low to be true. Does this price seem right? Should I shop around for another 1998 that is for sale in the $8500-$10000.00 price range like most are? The car in question is an auto, I'd really like a 6 spd, but are 6 speeds more than autos? I've heard that getting an auto in relation to a 6 spd doesn't really matter with LS1s *I just heard this, I dunno if it has any relevancy*.
Again, thank you guys
Allen

On average, to replace and paint the fender should be around $400-500 depending on the difficulty of matching the paint. Are you sure the fender isn't repairable? If I were you, I would definitely shop around a little more. And try to find a 6 speed! I've talked to so many people who have autos, and grow tired of them after a few years. With a 6 speed, your fun will never end

Very difficult to say without seeing the car...

Are you absolutely sure the damage has not gone beyond the fender? Definetely take it to a body shop and let them look at it before you offer anything.

It really has B4C package? Did you check the RPO sticker? The reason I ask is that the one's I've ever seen have always been hardtops. But I guess it just depends on who ordered it...

If the car runs and drives fine, the damage has not gone beyond the fender and is otherwise in good condition, offer $6K and be willing to give maybe a couple of hundred, if needed, but that's all.

And the debate between A4's and M6's will never end , so don't bother asking... Since you will be the one driving it, get the one which YOU like the most.

If I were you, I'd steer clear of that car for the following reasons:

- You said you don't like silver
- It's an auto., but you want a manual
- It's been hit

Chances are if that car was hit and she didn't take care of the damage right away then she probably has neglected to take car of other things on the car. That low prices seems tempting, but I'd just keep looking and find one you like.

I agree with all of the above. It is worth paying a bit more for a cherry car. I have seen nice cars for under 10k. I'd pass and keep looking for a nicer one! Take your times, lots of good cars out there!
