Does replacing the cam in your car enable you to rev at higher RPMs? Or is it something else? Im not a car pro by any means so sorry if its a dumb question.

 

A different cam may make power at a higher rpm, but you need stronger valve springs and pushrods to rev faster. These are usually done at the same time as the cam. Aftermarket cams usually have a higher lift that requires different valve springs anyway.

 

i raised mine slighly with my cam.how much you raise it depends on what kind of cam youre running.most cams come with stronger valve train components for this reason.

 

I have the GM hotcam. Sounds like I will be able to raise it if I just get some valve springs. Are there aftermarket gauges to accommodate for this change in the redline.?

 

youll need some type of tuning to raise your revlimit.im not familiar with what comes with a hotcam kit.i think youll need stronger PRs with that cam.not sure though.

 

Yes, you should be revving to about 6300 with that cam. You will need new valve springs though...and PCM tuning.
