Cons- the only ones I can think of is money...and time
Pros- O gosh there are so many..More power...Can get you a better setup for say a supercharger or something. More power....More power...Driveabitly should be pretty close to the same...More power...Did I mention more power?

Pros.. power!... cons.. $$$$$$$$$ and not THAT much more power
If your stock shortblock is in good condition, i'd just do topend stuff, and MAYBE a little n2o if you wanted more. Granted we can easily ge over 425rwhp with heads/cam. Heck, im trying to find 2 board ppl to run our stuff to get more exposure.. awful cheap compared to other stuff.
If yer bottom end is borked.. I'd go all bore.

IMO, for a street/strip driven car, stroking is the way (or at least a real good way) to go. Strokers put out lots of torque, and with the right cam, they can also put out lots of HP at higher RPM's. Then, as opposed to the N2O route where you've only got the power when your bottle is full (and the switch is "on") you've always got the power right there at your feet..............I like that anyway.
The only downfall to an LS1 stroker is that they are a lot more expensive to build than an old SBC stroker or even an LT1 stroker, since they've just not been around as long as the others. But, if you're willing to fork out a few $$$'s, it's certainly a good method of gaining lots of streetable power.
FWIW: the day my motor starts to show signs of "old-age", I'd like to build it into a "382" LS1 stroker.
