Probably a Dumb question... ls1 vs lsX
I noticed that al ls6 had a little more hose power than a ls1. How much more? and is it worth it to fork out all that cash for one, or soup up an ls1?

How big of an engine can you put into a 1988 Iroc-z camaro? Is it good? I might just buy the weaker 305 iroc since I plan to do an engine swap anyway, as finding a 5.7 liter is proving to be very hard. What would it cost me to get like an ls7 or ls6? Or is 383 Stroker better? I don't want to cut corners in this depatment of the car...

I'd take the LSx over a 383 anyday. The reliability would be so much higher and the potential is huge for small bolt on parts. In a 3rd gen car you can put a big block in if you want so don't worry about what will fit and what won't. The LS6 isn't really worth the extra money comapred to the LS1, add a cam to an LS1 and you make the same if not more power then the LS6 but you save something like $2,000.

Not to bash teh LS6, but it is cheaper and smarter to build up an LS1 over an LS6. I chuckle when I hear people wasting thouands of dollars swapping an LS6 into their LS1 F-Body, where all they needed was a cam swap to make more power from the beginning

You do realize that a Gen 3/4 small block isnt going to just drop into your 3rd gen dont you?
With that said, if you're on a budget you may be better off building a 1st or 2nd gen (LT1/LT4) small block into your ride.
