Powerslots

Are the Power Perf Group "Powerslot" front rotors for 98-02 F Bodies (available at LG Motorsport and T Byrne) any improvement over stock or Autozone replacment rotors, or are they just for looks? Please advise. Thanks.

Powerslots are fine but not any better than autozone rotors. The brake pads make the most difference, until you get into systems like Baer.

I have Hawk brake pads, and powerslots all the way around, and I noticed a HUGE improvement in stopping. Just my .02.

Back when I had my V6, my stock rotors sucked and kept warping over and over. I replaced them with PowerSlot's and HawkHPS's all around. When I had to hit the breaks, they held a lot better then the stock ones. Also, I had them from 20,000 miles until I sold the car at 47,000 and they were still running smooth as can be. I plan on getting another set when the rotors on my WS6 start going bad.

I've had two different guys who build race cars for NASCAR both tell me the same thing. I've had several mechanics tell me the same thing.

Don't waste your money. Get the cheapos from AutoZone.

How much are Autozone's rotors? Thunder Racing has a brake package that includes all 4 PowerSlot's, Hawk pads, stainless steel brake lines, and two cans of fluid for $589. Not a bad price IMO. Individually the PowerSlot's are like $110 per front and $90 per rear.

I'm actually thinking of getting Baer EradiSpeed's when I get new rotors myself. I loved my PowerSlot's, but I do some pretty heavy braking, and I'm thinking they might be a little better.

$39 each for front rotors (made in China) at AutoZone. $49 each for front rotors (made in USA, Wagner brand) at O'Rieleys. O'Rieleys matched the $39 price for their rotors (USA) when I bought a couple for the girlfriends car. They are thicker than the originals. Have not heard of problems with either. Power slots shave a little brake pad off to keep them from glazing as much. You will have more brake pad dust and shorter brake pad life. Probably best on a car you race more than a street car, IMO. They do look nicer than a plain rotor though. Later>>>>>

I run them on my Mustang and like them. My younger brother ran them on his '95 Z28 which he autocrossed heavily. He noticed that the powerslots took a lot longer to fade than the stockers.
