Question Power Windows

Has anyone had to replace the motor for their power window yet?

I believe GM had a problem with a lot of power windows. My Mom has a 97 Olds, and the drivers side window can be a PITA. It goes down easily, but when she tries to put it up, it won't go up completely.

Drivers side replaced once. Passenger window is slow, drivers side is making noise.

Ya, the power window motor was probably the worst part about 4th Gen Camaros...

Both of my windows are very slow. When I lived in NY this past year, they wouldn't even go down in very cold weather.

I had my driver's side window motor replaced last fall. It went half way up and just stopped. Do a search and you will find plenty of threads on this subject. Apparently as the motor begins to fail, it over-heats and stops before closing the window. Wait a few minutes ( 5, 10, a half hour) for the motor to cool down and you will be able to close the window. You hope.

I had mine replaced with oem parts under extended warrantee. However, I've heard that Autozone makes a replacement motor which is much more durable that the stock part.

My driver makes some loud clunk noises when going up, and the passenger goes up very slowly. It goes all the way up though. It usually goes up faster when the car is on.
