Question Power steering pulley removal?

Does anyone know the best way to remove and replace the power steering pulley on an LS1?

I am sure the answer is simply to use a puller, but where can I get one? Is that something I can rent at my local Autozone/Murrays etc? Do I need anything special? Any tips or tricks or anything I need to know?

A puller kit is really the only way. It will have the tool to remove and then another to reinstall it. Not sure if you can rent one but I don't see why they wouldn't have one. One thing to watch out for is the radiator when you are working. Like everything else in the F-body there's not a lot of room and can put a hole in the radiator if you're not carefull.

Great, thanks. I was on the right track, but wanted to make sure there were no tricks to it or anything special. You never know with these cars. I'll watch out for the radiator.

FYI, I got a turn one pulley and sent it out to have it stripped and clear anodized to match my satin finish MBA pieces. It turned out great, I can't want to get it on to see how it looks.

Thanks again.

No problem. The Turn One pulley is the reason I know about watching out for the rad. Mine currently has JBWeld sealing it.

Jason you can take off the clips to the resivoir. Take it off. Then take your turn on loosining them. it will come off.
Also when will my banner be up on the advertisers page?

Sorry for dumb question, but is their added performance switching to a Turn One pulley from the original power steering pulley?

Thanks! You say loosening "them". What does that mean?

D'oh! That's my fault, I will make it right soon and will make it up to you. Thanks for pointing that out!

Nope, it is not an underdrive pulley so it does nothing for performance, AFAIK. It is mostly for looks, and I have heard of people breaking their stock one, I guess it is made of plastic or sorts.

You cant take 1 bolt out then the next. Loosen one bolt at a time. Untill it comes off. Sorry.

Maybe I am losing my mind, but I don't see any bolts on my LS1 power steering pulley.

I think he's talking about the actual PS pump reservoir, not the pulley...

That is actually one advantage with the Turn One. You can pull the pump without removing the pulley if you ever need to.
