power steering issues

I recently purchased a high mileage, '99 SS. The car seemed to be in pretty good shape with the exception of a couple things. 1. After the car warms up, the power steering gets extremely stiff. It feels like it loses power assist altogether. When cold, it works fine. I've had the power steering pump replaced but that didn't work. What are the symptoms of a power steering rack going bad? 2. Cruise control doesn't work. I've checked all associated fuses but found none to be bad. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

if your power steering pump is black its a turn one pump, and it does that purposly, its a high performance steering pump. (you, in a sense, lose power steering ander 1000rpm's) as far as the cruise control goes, thats a different problem

Make sure the power steering fluid is at the required level. Does it make any screeching type sounds after it warms up? Its kind of like a whining sound when it is going bad.

It doesn't make much noise when hot. It does make a little when attempting to turn when hot.
