Post Power steering fluid going...going...gone

my '98 z28 is losing fluid from the reservoir...checked it six mos. ago then checked it again when the engine was hot, and it was at the "cold" level.
there are no puddles underneath the car, how can this be?

It could only be leaking when it is under pressure(when you are turning the steering wheel). Maybe you have a cracked hose...when you turn the wheel the hose gets a higher than normal fluid pressure in it and expands which exposes the crack and that is where the leak is from.

I looked at the hose and see it's wet around the seal and there's a dark trail leading down the hose. is there an easy way to fix this? just buy a new hose/clamp and replace? how to keep fluid from gushing out?

thanks

Not sure how to do it without removing the fluid. You could just try adjusting that clamp...it might have wiggled loose and isn't clamping properly. Also you could just by a hose clamp from Home Depot that you can open on one end. I am talking about the ones that have a screw to tighten them...not sure how to explain it. Do you know what I am talking about?

Oh yeah, i know that clamp. luckily i have an extended warranty. i already bought a new screw on cap in case it's leaking from the seal...now i'll try to adjust the hose. then, i'll go to the dealer. thanks
