Question power loss question

I have a 2000 z28, manual. Whenever i floor it, between 5,000 and 6,000 rpm's, i completely lose power. it only happens sometimes but when it does i can feel the car slowing down. what the heck is wrong with my baby. ---thanks

Did you buy it used? If so, it's possible the previous owner installed a chip and set the rev-limiter to somewhere b/t 5000-6000rpms. Before I reset my programmer, my '01 did similar and it surprised me/freaked me out. I thought I wasted the motor...

Just a thought

My 2000 Z28 did the same thing. It turned out to be weak valve springs.
