Exclamation power antena

Hi, I'm not a Z owner but my best friend is. His birthday is this week and I have been trying to find him a power antena for his '98 LS1 Z28. Its his new pride and joy, the only thing he hates about the exterior is the big stationary antena. PLEASE help! I found out about this site from hi9m, he is die hard Z28 person.

There are lots of universal antennas. I have one on both Camaros. They are around $60 plus install. I think the Convertibles might come with power antennas. If they do you could probably get one of those from a dealer but expect to raped on the price. Most car stereo places also sell a little antennas that don't stick up very high for $20 or less plus you can install it yourself, but then you still have a thing sticken up it just isnt as noticeable.

Try looking at junk yards in the area. I got one from a 2000 TA that took a front end impact. Antenna worked great for $40. Just a PITA to run the signal wire from the head unit back to the antenna.

The how-to article is here:

http://www.ls1info.com/article.php?sid=218

The antenna is 65.91 at GM Parts Direct.com, that link is here:

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/

search for part #: 10402860

That link is for the black one, which looks much better than chrome IMHO!

Good luck!

I ordered the one from gm parts direct and installed it on SS and I love it. It is very easy to do and the directions are easy to follow. If you want pictures with directions try blackcamaro.com and go to antenna installation. It's the one that I used and it didn't take me any time at all to install mine. Good luck

Yea its easy if you have a SS becuase you can tap into the amp for power. I let the professionals deal with the V6 Camaro.
