Pontiac Firebird trans am whats the DEAL!!!
ok hear it is i know that they make the trans am a WS.6 package but there is this trans am that i see all the time rolling around by where i live and it looks to have all the WS.6 stuff done to it but it doesn't say WS.6 it says W5.7 performance package. so what i wasn't to know is there 2 different options on the trans am or what? b/c i can smoke a Ws.6 but this one stays right along side me the hole time, i've only pulled on it once or twice. so i was wondering if that is a different trans am option or what. is it just a badge that they could have stuck on instead of the WS6. please some help this is bothering me a great deal?
Like said above, the WS7 badging was owner added, somewhere there is a group of trans Am guys in one area who all did that to their cars, sort of as a car club thing. Its a cool idea, i would like to get something like that going in my area.
I can't remember who sells it but it is an aftermarket bolt on appearence/perfromance package ... similar to SLP' Ultra Z, LGM's ZR-28 and Mecham's Z-29R for the Z-28.
It can be as simple as just buying the badging or it can be a complete mod make over ...

A company actually used to make the badges too, or a single guy did, can't remember. Anyway, now all you can get is a decal. I was thinking of getting one for my TA since it's altered and all, but I dunno, I'd prefer a badge to a decal.
if anyone cares, ws7 was a real options code back on 2nd gens (maybe 3rd gens too)
for the '79 t/a it says this:
"WS7 which was essentially the WS6 package without the 4-wheel disc brakes."
just found that interesting heh
