A couple of days ago I was being a dumba** and was showing off in front of my friends and I was going to lay a nice little patch down. Well when I was letting off the clutch it stuck, I hit the gas and didnt go anywhere, so I put it back in neutral and checked if I had a clutch and I still did, well of course it smoked a little and started to smell like you burnt your clutch. So after that I went straight home and parked it. Next day I started to drive it and it just didnt seem right it kind of jerks just a very little if I start off in first and a little more if I start out in second. When I went back home I parked it got out and I smelled the burning clutch still.

Now I dont know if it was just burning off that smell from the other night or if its still burning the clutch?? So has anyone had a similar prob? Did I mess up the clutch or slave cylinder?

Oh and I did that 3 nights ago and got the same smell yesterday and today, and about the smell its not near as bad as when I actually did it but its still there.

 

OK i did the same thing a few nights ago too, and the smell went away, but for some reason the car feels like a V6 in the power department. As far as i can tell the clutch isnt slipping, but im not that experienced w/ manuals. Just got this one. Its going back to the dealership to see whats wrong.

 

These clutchs for the ls1 are self adjusting.You may just have burnt alittle bit of life out of it. It was jerky because of the adjustment that you the driver aren't used to. It will be back to normal in a bit just don't keep doing that or you will burn your clutch out completely. I did the same thing and the same exact thing happened in a couple of days the smell will be gone and you will adjust to your adjusting clutch.

Yeah ... I did something similar too. I was going to powerbrake in the M6. I quickly realized that the smoke wasn't coming from the tires. Whoops!

After a few days, it all settled down and got back to normal. Well, as normal as can be expected from the crappy stock clutch.

 

The guys are right, I took my car to the track a few weeks ago and I had the smell for a few days. It was a pain to shift for a few days too, but you should be ok.
