Question Performance Axcel

Greetings,

I have the performance Axcel on my Z28 and I was wondering what advantages this has or what the benefits are.

Thanks,

Steve

Thumbs up

Performance Axle = 3.23's .

Better acceleration than a 2.73:1 , although w/ a slight fuel mileage penalty.

I think it's the better axle to have , but since I have it, I am biased.

Talking

Probably not, as I just make the ol' work commute up 59 to 610 West Loop Northbound to 290.

In the evenings, down the old Beltway to 59 south.

Welcome aboard, BTW !!

Done any mods yet ?

Cool

Back to the original question -- NEWBIE T/A is pretty much bang on with that. 3.23's (which come with the "performance axle") definitely help to improve acceleration, whether from a dead-stop or to accelerate while already moving. However, as already stated, they will have a slight negative effect on your fuel consumption, and they will limit your top-speed as well, but in the end, performance wise, they're worth it.
My car has 2.73's, but since I didn't order the car myself, I had to take what I could get - but, oh well! I just did a long trip this weekend, and I was surprised to see that the Camaro got good mileage that was almost comparable to my old Sunfire! They both take (took?) about the same amount of gas to fill up, and while the Sunfire would easily get 500km to a tank, the Camaro got almost 500km, and that wasn't all just nice highway cruising - I definitely had a little fun with the car on the trip while driving, so I was very impressed!
