Me me me I have been shifting at over 6400 rpms drag racing regularly for 3 years now since I went Heads/Cam. Totally stock bottom end.

Dude, I have no idea what you are talking about. Change out the stock pushrods and valvesprings for better ones, and you can rev a stock bottom end LS1 to 6500 rpm as much as your heart desires. Swap out the rod bolts, and there is no reason the motor can't see about 7k (although a better oil pump and timing chain might be a good idea). Some of the guys with 01 and up LS1s that have the better factory rod bolts can take their car to 7k on the stock rod bolts no problem.

Just out of curiousity, what RPM does the T-Rex cam build power to? I would think somewhere over 7k with the cam's specs.

"i wouldnt want to rev a stock motor past 6k without some serious upgrade to take that type of beating"

you DO realize that the stock rev limiter is almost 6200 in the ls1 ...right?

6500 is no big deal.... over that...well i think you're buying your time till a failure of some kind.

if Youre only going with a "decent" sized cam, then you dont have anything to worry about, as long as you get the springs to match it, which they should come with anyway. its only when you go with a big cam that you should start to worry. again though, we're talking ls1 here. dont know what an lt1 is capable of.
