Post People With 4:10's and Automatics, Help!!!

I am thinking of getting 4:10's next weeek and have a 3200 Vig stall converter. Can anyone tell me how much of a difference 4:10's will make on my car?

60' Difference and 1/4 mile difference is what I'm looking for? Will I lose drivability in the car with this gear? How much gas milage will I lose?

Is it a big difference over my 3:23 setup?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Bill

I have always heard that on a car that is driven other than at the track, 3.23's are a max with an A4. I have no idea though since I have 2.73's

I thought a couple of guys were running 3.42s with their A4s with no problems.

Man, first gear in an A4 is so steep anyway; I don't think you would be happy with 4.11's. You might think about 3.42's or 3.73's at the maximum. With that high a stall TC and 4.11's you'll be revving like a TH 350 with 5-series gears IMO.

Hey at least you have an OD! My car turns 2300rpms only going 51.4mph with a 28" tire and a 3.73 gear. That's in 3rd gear (1:1). With your overdrive (.78?) I don't see much to complain about.

I've always heard, as a rule, that 3.73's are OK for automatics, but anything lower than that is getting pretty serious, and is not so good for everyday driving, only racing. Not that it can't or hasn't been done, but I think 3.73 is about as low as you would want to go to gain performance, but maintain reasonable drivability.
